Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations, also known as model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. At a MUN conference, students work as the representative of a country, organization, or person, and must solve a problem with other delegates from around the world. MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadershipWhile Model UN is typically used as an extracurricular activity, some schools also offer it as a class. Model UN is meant to engage students, and allow them to develop deeper understanding into current world issue.

Our Model United Nations (FASMUN) program provides a platform for students to develop leadership skills, engage in critical thinking, and broaden their global perspectives. These enriching activities contribute to the overall well-being of our learners by fostering personal growth and a sense of belonging. FASMUN helps the High school students to develop leadership skills, research, writing, public speaking, and problem solving skills. We take great pride in their achievements. We have approximately 50 active delegates who meet twice weekly after school to write and work on resolutions, prepare for conferences, and learn MUN procedures. We take great pride in their achievements. We have eleven different committees in FASMUN this year including, but not limited to, International Court of Justice (ICJ), International Criminal Court (ICC), Empowering Vulnerable Communities (EVC), Cyber Security Council (CSC), and Commission on Population and Development (CPD). The ICC will be hosted in FASMUN IV 2024 for the first time in Alexandria. We trained new members from Forsan British School and participated in several conferences at schools in Alexandria and Cairo, winning approximately 40 awards across several categories.

National Honor's Society (NHS)

The National Honor Society (NHS) membership has been the true mark of student achievement for over 100 years, but it goes far beyond a report card. By empowering, championing, and recognizing well-rounded students, NHS provides schools with a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. NHS chapters operate in all 50 states and many schools around the world, engaging and serving more than one million students.

Our NHS club has grown from six members in 2020, our inaugural year, to a current roster as of October 2023 of 21 members. NHS members hold several fundraising events throughout the year, with half of the proceeds used to finance our Annual Sports Day, and half going to charity.

Interact Club

It is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.

FAS Interact Club has been a member of Interact since March 2021. We started with 40 students, and have grown to now over 75. Throughout the year, the Interact club organizes various events and charity projects aimed at addressing issues such as poverty, hunger, disease, and illiteracy such as Down Syndrome Day, Orphans Sports Day, Winter Clothes Charity, Warm Blankets for local people living in poverty, and Ramadan Iftar. The ultimate goal is to develop leadership skills, foster friendships, and promote international understanding among young people.
