ASSESSMENTS

FAS’s assessment philosophy is based on a Formative vs. Summative approach, where 50% of a student’s grade is based on what a student knows, understands, and can do on a daily basis, which is comprised of classwork, homework, and projects. 30% of the grade comes from Summative grading, which is in the form of quizzes and tests.10% of the student’s grade is based on Behavior, assessed weekly, using a PPBE rubric (Positive and Professional Behavior Expectations). The last 10% comes from the Final Exam at the end of the term, should it apply to the grade level and/or course. Most courses will follow this grading scheme. MOE courses (Arabic, Religion, NS) will follow the prescribed expectations from MOE. Some Elective/Activity courses will differ slightly.

 Student Yearly Assessments:

  • Weekly/Bi-weekly quizzes and/or tests in courses
  • MAP Growth Assessment 3 times per year
  • Mid-Semester Assessments (in the form of projects, tests, or other demonstrations of learning)
  • Final Semester Assessments
  • Ministry of Education Exams (Arabic, National Studies, Religion)

Students’ school day is from 8:30 to 2:30 Sunday through Thursday.

Sunday through Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 are school clubs and activities.
